There’s no questioning that social media has become the new advertising frontier. From flat tummy tea to Hookah pens and FashionNova clothing website hopefuls Instagram is a go to place to secure a following and secure a bag if you are a celebrity.
Today Instagram released its Top 10 richest celebrity influencers who make well over $100,000 per promo post.

Kim Kardashian – 101 million followers – $500,000 per post
Cristiano Ronaldo – 104 million followers – $400,000 per post
Kylie Jenner – 95 million followers – $400,000 per post

One of the most interesting but not surprising thing about this list is 8/10 of the top 10 are women. In reviewing some of the Instagrams for the women on the list they are currently promoting the following businesses, IG’s or lines:
Selena Gomez - Is very careful to only posts from companies in which she currently holds contracts with. Her first 100 posts include, Coach, Vogue, Coca-Cola, Louis Vuitton, Marie Claire amongst others.
Kim Kardashian - Although she currently has her own beauty line endeavor that she is pushing heavily to her 101 million followers, there are a limited amounts of promotion post in her feed, especially since the FDA expressed concern over her IG post about morning sickness pills, she's been careful with her postings. She has been promoting: @fittea which is a tea/shake company for post workouts. Promotion is of course working, the company has well over 1.5 million followers on Instagram since she began promoting them in March of 2017. Along with @fittea she is also a heavy promoter for the #WaistGangSociety waist trainers which are focused on two accounts including the owners @Premadonna87 and @WaistGangSociety. Her promotion of each of these appeals to women’s desire to not only look like her but a host of other celebrities who have a significant difference in their ass to waist ratio. One of the last ads I saw as I scrolled through was for @sugarbearhair vitamins to help assist with anyone's everyday hair care routine. As Kim displays her love for family, fashion and travel if this list is correct from the 3 posts I saw she made a total of 1.5 million dollars.
Kylie Jenner - Kim’s sister is no different. She’s learned that one of the best things to promote is your brand and your business. Currently she is focused on building her Kylie Shop brand of clothes and makeup but an ad sneaks its way in every now and then. She’s promoted for @bumble a dating app, @fitteawraps which is an extension of the tea/shakes that her sister promotes and Puma which she holds a contract with.
It is no secret that companies have found a way to reach their preferred audience no matter what social media sites/apps they frequent but the dollars being spent on the top ten is a clear indication of the value placed on our social media account usage. Although it was interesting to review this list, I think a more indepth analysis of social media advertising for individuals with 1M and above followers would be interesting to review.
